Learn the Art of Situational Comedy From An Absurdified Foo Ling Master!
BeyondaNews Special Update:
Dear Friends:
If you want to learn how to use cosmic comedy to evoke healing laughter in just about any situation, Steve Bhaerman’s four-week Course In Laughter teleclass begins this coming Tuesday, August 10th. We are also doing a two-hour interactive intensive, Writing Your Laugh Story, on Wednesday, August 25th. Why write your Laugh Story? Well, you know the old saying … laugh at yourself, and the whole world will laugh at you too!
Still trying to make up your mind? Perhaps these FAQ’s will help:
Q. Does laughter really heal?
A. Absolutely. Studies show that just one Youngman of laughter – the comedy contained in just one one-liner – can heal up to a megahurt of emotional pain.
Q. Will taking either of these classes make me funnier?
A. God says we’re all funnier than we could ever imagine. Taking this class will help you see funnier, and see how funny we all are. In other words, life is a comedy of situations and we’re just having an episode.
Q. My co-worker is a jerk. Will I be able to learn a snappy comeback next time he acts jerky?
A. Better than that. You will learn to take full responsibility for everything in your life. That way, next time he bothers you, you can say to him, “Why did I create a jerk like you in my life?”
Q. Will I learn the secret to successful joke-telling?
A. That, we will give you for free. The secret? The punch line goes at the end.
Q. Will this class help me deal with my financial challenges?
A. It certainly will. To paraphrase the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, laughter will get us through times of no money better than money will get us through times of no laughter.
Q. Will you double my money back if I don’t like the class?
A. Being a Swami allows me to go one better: If not completely satisfied, I will double your karma back! People must love this class, because so far I have had no takers.
Seriously, don’t miss this opportunity to achieve your humorin’ potential.

Heart Problems? Laughter Proven to Help Your Blood Vessels Expand
Using laughter-provoking movies to gauge the effect of emotions on cardiovascular health, researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore have shown for the first time that laughter is linked to healthy function of blood vessels. Laughter appears to cause the tissue that forms the inner lining of blood vessels, the endothelium, to dilate or expand in order to increase blood flow. The results of the study, conducted at the University of Maryland Medical Center, were presented at the Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology on March 7, 2005, in Orlando, Florida. How to Recover From Holiday Stress or even Depression
If you’re suffering from holiday stress or even depression, try watching this video without smiling, laughing, and feeling better.
It’s a common problem. The holidays roll around and another year has passed us by. We think about departed friends and family, the way it used to be and our regrets at not completing projects or commitments we made during the year and before long, we feel sad, depressed or any number of other feelings. I can relate to this as I lost my father on December 7th and have been feeling up and down since then. The real problem with this exercise in futility is that nothing can change any of what may have gone wrong or bring back the people we love. Only by moving totally into the present moment and filling that moment with the best memories we have of the people in our lives and the things we managed to accomplish this year can we lift the emotions that sap us of energy and compromise our immune system.
At 101 Comedies That Heal, part of our mission is helping move our subscribers into the present moment and filling their eyes and ears with healing humor that contributes to a healthier immune system. So with that in mind, here’s a new discovery for you. Who knew getting validated after shopping could be such an uplifting experience? Enjoy this great video from award winning Writer, Director, and Composer, Kurt Kuenne. This video is one of You Tube’s hottest. Our thanks and appreciation to Karma Tube, a wonderful free source of uplifting videos. You might want to consider giving yourself the gift of a free subscription.

Xmas Rip Off! Does Your Santa Need Rehabilitation?
Is Christmas being exploited?
Has your Santa gone to the dark side? Does he require rehabilitation from his selfish ways? This year Christmas is all about giving and in “Bad Santa” a selfish St. Nick learns that, while it is nice to get (or take), generosity can feel strangely better.
Bad Santa – Willy (Billy Bob Thornton) is a lazy, alcoholic thief who exploits Christmas to pose as Santa Claus and rob shopping malls. Over the years he and his thieving elf (Tony Cox) have stolen tons of money and merchandise but now as age is catching up with him he finds that he might be losing his criminal edge. When the cops discover his motel room, he is forced to hide out with an odious 8 year old boy (Brett Kelly) who is so naive and full of the Christmas spirit that it almost drives Willy to insanity.
Memorable Quotes:
Willy: “I’m an eating, drinking, bleeping, bleeping Santa Claus.”
Sue: “So, do you like kids?” Willy: “Bleep no, what do you think, I’m some kind of pervert or something?”

Overwhelmed? This Celebrity Demonstrates Her Mastery In The Art Of Creating A Stress Free Life.
Behold Selma Blair’s skill in dealing with her daily annoyances and stresses. She could find herself overwhelmed but, no, as in the martial arts she engages the foe but without conflict. She diverts attention with clever ploys that entertain the adversary but cost little in time or effort. This savvy diva of both the silver and the small screen tosses this pack of hungry news hounds a bone and then slips away.
Like some aikido master she demonstrates that the worst events can be neutralized with charm, humor and a positive attitude. These irksome paparazzi could have spoiled her day. They could have been very overwhelming, but no, she ascends to a higher plane and does not identify with the circumstances. Instead she becomes the defining agent of the moment discreetly revolving it to her command.

How Does Comedienne Detoxify Family Genetics? With Humor.
My genes are poisoned, and I know that for a fact.
My sister Laura is the family historian, you know, and she found out — we’re Russian and Polish, ya know, Jews — she found out that the village that our great-great-great-grandmother came from in Russia was raped and pillaged by — and I don’t even know what pillaged means, but definitely raped — by Mongolians.
So I’m, I am part Mongolian rapist. And I will be totally honest with you: I love it.
I just feel like it gives me street cred or something, like it’s so… and I also feel like, even back then, even while my great-great-great-grandmother was being raped, even then I think she knew, ya know, this is gonna be funny someday.

You Make The Vow, You Keep The Vow, You Maintain Your Integrity.
A guy joins a monastery and takes a vow of silence: he’s allowed to say two words every seven years.
After the first seven years, the elders bring him in and ask for his two words. “Cold floors,” he says. They nod and send him away.
Seven more years pass. They bring him back in and ask for his two words. He clears his throats and says, “Bad food.” They nod and send him away.
Seven more years pass. They bring him in for his two words. “I quit,” he says.
“That’s not surprising,” the elders say. “You’ve done nothing but complain since you got here.”

Aggravating Parrot Chills Out For Thanksgiving.
Recently we received a parrot as a gift.
The parrot had a very bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of it’s beak was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. Now we understood why it had been given to us.
We tried and tried to change the bird’s attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else we could think of to “clean up” the bird’s vocabulary.
Finally, I was fed up and yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. There was a fight and I shook it but it only got angrier and even ruder. So, in desperation, I grabbed the bird and shoved it in the freezer, slammed the door, and fumed.
For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed.
Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.
My wife, fearing that I’d hurt the bird, quickly opened the freezer.
The parrot calmly stepped out onto her outstretched arms and said,
“I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I’m sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior.”
We were stunned at the change in the bird’s attitude and were about to ask what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, when it said: “May I ask what the turkey did?”
We don’t know who wrote this one.
